Iván Ramiro Córdoba Sepúlveda (born August 11, 1976 in Medellín, Antioquia Department) is a Colombian football player.
Club career
He made his name playing for San Lorenzo in Argentina but signed for Italian side Internazionale in the winter transfer window, January 2000, costing the club 16 million Euros, rejecting another offer from Real Madrid in doing so.
Naturally a central defender and world rated man-marker, he is athletic and relies mostly on his world class pace and reliable timing. Despite being only 172 cm tall, he is a good header of the ball, good jumper and often scores goals with his head. Cordoba is also a versatile defender. He sometimes plays as right back and has even filled the left back position.
International careerHe captained the Colombia national football team to win the 2001 Copa América competition, scoring the only goal in the final. Cordoba also played for his country in the 1998 FIFA World Cup. Cordoba holds an Italian passport due to his long stay in Italy.
He has his own charity organisation called "Colombia Te Quiere Ver Association".
